Départ de Fès — FAQ

Is Fes a good starting city for a Morocco tour?
Yes — especially for culturally-focused travellers. Fes is older than Marrakech, smaller, less touristed, and closer to the northern loop (Chefchaouen, Meknes, Volubilis). Starting in Fes means you travel south-to-south with variety at every stop.
Does Fes airport handle international flights?
Fes–Saïs (FEZ) connects to ~15 European cities plus direct flights from the Gulf. Fewer options than Marrakech or Casablanca, but the airport is 15 minutes from the medina.
How many days do I need starting from Fes?
Two days in Fes city plus 3–5 days onward. Seven days total is the most-booked option — Fes medina, drive south through the Middle Atlas and Ziz Valley, Sahara camp in Merzouga, Dades and Todra gorges, Aït Ben Haddou, ending in Marrakech.
Can you do a Fes to Chefchaouen day trip?
Yes, but it's a long day — 4 hours each way. We recommend an overnight in Chefchaouen if the schedule allows; otherwise we run it as a pre-tour extension.
